I just love how the Harry Potter kids grew up to be such humble, down-to-earth people.
Most British child-actors grew up more humble than (some) American child actors. Brits tend to be more level-headed and they have a clear understanding that acting is just a job 👌
If only the same was true about Joanne, but…
@toobiased what's so wrong with J.K? Is it because you don't like the way she speaks the truth? It's childish to expect everyone to agree with your beliefs.
like you guys know these people off screen ffs...
@XZ III right?!
This was so lovely. Still can't wrap my head around the fact that he replied to one of my tweets. I thought it was a fake account until a couple people told me about this video. What a wonderful surprise. 😆
That’s so cool!!!
I'm guessing your melabonbon lol
@Michael Tadros you guessed correctly!
I'm going to give servant a watch :)
What's so surprising about and responding to one of your tweets though in today's world we live in?.. he just a person that just gets paid a lot of money and is on the big-screen but he's human lol..
he's such a sweet man, talented and down to earth. I'm so happy and proud we're seeing more of him in movies and tv shows!
💯 I'd love to see Rupert in a new movie with Daniel.
Haaaa go see the movie and update this comment
Yesss! 🔥🙌
Thought the new film was amazing!
Imagine asking a question on Reddit and getting it answered five years later
And by Rupert Grint lol 😂
The comments lock after awhile. So it was fake.
@Rope yogurt the comment is by a different user, but it's a real comment from a user named Proper-Carl on a TIL post from 5 years ago. And of course they don't actually comment the answers lol
@Rope yogurt posts usually get archived after a while. But they say 6 months for that and I've definitely seen plenty of year+ old posts that don't have locked replies...
If the thread stays active or they pin or something or mods keep it unlocked?
@Synesthesiac they did reply to tweets though
That’s so genius of him not to turn any essay in 😂 this is exactly what Ron would do
Well, Ron would probably do a half-assed one and then have Hermione "edit" (write) it.
@Brianna Smith Hermione def wouldn't do it for him
@Sunnydays I just re-read Half- Blood Prince and actually, Hermione plagiarizes for both Ron and Harry multiple times in this book alone. I thought that was a bit out of character for her, too, but Rowling wrote it into HBP. I guess even Hermione breaks the rules for her friends as a teen sometimes.
@Bryan Martin especially one she has a crush on.
It’s actually fairly on brand for all of them, hermione 16 pages, Harry half arsed 1 page and Ron not bothering. Seems about right
What a genuinely nice seeming bloke. Loved seeing him in Cabinet of Curiosities
He was so good in that!!
Nice catch for canon Harry Potter movies. "Harry Potter and the Cabinet of Curiosities"
My absolute favourite character in Servant.
Repent and believe in Jesus Christ seems a bit hypocritical m8
You have successfully incentivised me to keep watching that show OML
Rupert really aged well. Hope to see more of him on the cinema
Puberty hit him like a freight train, but now he looks a lot better. That beard fits him really well!
Respect to the man in the ice-cream van! Honestly, during the HP years Rupert stood out to me the most for his acting prowess. I honestly think that he was the best actor of his age group when it comes to showing emotions - nobody could do fear or gleefulness quite as well as he did. I still hope he will come out of shadows in the future and show his talent in a big way in one way or another.
100% agreed. Daniel at a younger age sounded a bit too "rehearsed", if that makes any sense. Like he was reading a line from the script and emoting like when you see kids pretend to be sad, or angry or whatever.. He improved A LOT over the years though. And I actually had a huge crush on Emma during the first few HP movies (we're the same age, born 1990), so everything she did looked amazing to me as a kid. Re-watching them as an adult I really noticed the same kind of thing I noticed in Radcliffe's acting. It just looked like... well, acting. At least compared to other children actors, like the Stranger Things or IT Part 1 kids for example. Rupert, on the other hand, seemed like a natural as a kid. Effortlessly funny, actually seemed to have a genuine emotional response to stuff happening around him, and even though his faces sometimes looked a bit "cartoony", it was just a comic relief reaction so it didn't take me out of the movie.
If he's any smart, he's a multi millionaire with lots of assets from his Harry Potter movies and very much likely never has to work again unless he WANTS to do a movie.
Which is great, cuz you see them doing what they love, and not just another movie to pay their new yacht.
Excellent Scooter reference!
@Wolklaw He bought an ice cream van and went round giving free ice cream to kids in his neighbourhood after school. Dudes a legend and I very much doubt he is funding a high maintenance/expensive lifestyle
@Joe Bloggs yeah, what I said, basically.
It's so good to see Rupert doing interviews. He's so warm and kind, and was frankly my favourite from the Harry Potter kids. Nice to see him grow up and become a kind and lovely person. Go Won-Won!
I love Rupert, he hasn’t changed and I can’t believe he’s a dad now!
I wonder how he feels now that the Wednesday show is super popular and he named his daughter Wednesday a couple years back lol
@JungleJim4322
Probably found it funny in hindsight
we are old now.
if Dan is chaotic good, Rupert is lawful good. they're both so harmlessly strange and I love it
Rupert's performance on Knock at the Cabin was phenomenal, I hope he knows how great he is at conveying emotion on screen.
I actually never realized it was Rupert Grint when I saw the trailer. I just thought the redhead character was familiar lol
I was so focused on the kid and Batista 😅
@Lai May Honestly in the theater itself I was second guessing if it was him or not, but I figured it out😂
@MacarioMatt 😂 at least you figured it out. Me and my friend talked about the trailer and both of us never realized it was Rupert. Hopefully, I'll be able to watch the movie at the theatre soon, currently it's not available in my country yet 😅
It fully makes sense that Rupert's a Hufflepuff. The way the characters (and actors) aligned, they were all definitely Gryffindor, but they could all easily slot into one of the other houses (Ron Hufflepuff, Hermione Ravenclaw, Harry Slytherin)...
Luna should of been slytherine
Omggg this made my night!!!
He's actually out here doing personal interviews after so many years 🥺
I love you Ron-Rupert!!! ♥️
I love him, that will never change. I would genuinely do everything for him
You're obsessed.
He is the most talented and the nicest of the harry potter kids but he was the most underrated out of them all and his character is the most hated of the three, to the extent they tend to leave him out of the merchandising all because the director decided to give Hermione Ron's best moments and make her flawless
They did him so dirty 😭 and he was my favourite in the books along with Luna
Not to mention that everyone wanted Harry & Hermione to end up together.
I hate that. Hermione had flaws. It makes a character more relatable and interesting. Turning her into a Mary Sue doesn't help anyone. I need to reread the book again to remember what scenes were given to Hermione instead of what was supposed to be Ron's moments. Which ones do you remember?
There are so many, like in Prisioner of Azkaban Ron is the one that stands in front of Harry to protect him from Serius,he is the one to give the speech of you we will go with you in Half blood prince...Rupert would have been perfect in all this scenes
HATED?? RONS MY FAVOURITE CHARACTER
0:30 The fact that this is actually true still makes me laugh.
Daniel, Rupert, & Emma really are their characters.
Watching the anniversary show I think they actually struggled with their identity throughout the film. Imagine acting as the same character for so many years!🤯
We are rewatching Harry Potter and Ron is still my favorite character ❤ I wish Rupert Grint many more years of success and good health.
Ron is my favorite character in hp and honestly Rupert is my favorite actor from the franchise. A literal legend
they did him dirty in the films, all because the director faniced 13yr old emma watson.
steve knowles no the director
i hope he gets another big role. he deserves it. such a down to earth guy
Just saw him in Knock at the Cabin and loved his acting in it, insanely talented man. Can't wait to see him in more series and movies ⭐
I wish that the movies had kept Ron's character more realistic to the books. Rupert would have done an amazing job showcasing how clever and brave Ron was as Harry's friend! We really missed out on that acting from him due to the scripts.
Yesss😣😣
He’s such a great actor. Even in Harry Potter you can see the massive progression on his skills as the movies went on. Now he’s in more shows and movies and I’m loving it. They all grew up to be nice people
This guy is so seriously talented! In the Servant, he steals every scene he’s in. He’s undoubtedly the highlight of the show.
His voice is so great! Someone needs to cast him to do VO!
Ron's work as Rupert is incredible. He's totally committing to the role and it feels like he's a real person and not just a character.
Love him, seems so genuine and kind. Only wish the best for him and his career
It’s genuinely amazing how everyone from the hp cast hasn’t changed a bit. Be it their faces or their voices they sound and look exactly the same as they did while filming HP. Love you Ron aka Rupert ❤❤
it is and it isnt, it went on for so long that most of them were mid 20s and done with all of the major changes by the last film, they've just aged 10 years since then
Dan, Rupert and Emma are just so frickin sweet and down to earth. Even though They are literally the face of such a HUUUUUGE franchise. It's really nice to see actually, that they grew up so well.
This was one of the best! Love Rupert Grint so much - such a genuine, nice guy!
I adore him, I've always adored him, I'm glad he's getting more roles again in really good shows and movies, he was in some of my favorite films in that period after Harry Potter ended. I always felt he was highly underappreciated compared to Emma and Daniel, but he's also amazing!
its amazing i'm so happy rupert did knock on the cabin finally seeing him again was amazing its also amazing how humble all of them are so down to earth so kind
The HP movies did him (and Ron) dirty. I'm very happy to see him getting more mainstream recognition and work!
They really did, if they had followed the books his character would have had a much stronger/admirable personality and played a larger role.
i disagree, Ron was always my favorite character as a kid watching the movies
Despite them not show casing how brave and useful he actually was in the books, he was still my favorite character in the movies
I have a feeling that if Ron got as many 1-on-1 onscreen moments with Hermione as Harry did, the Hermione & Ron hookup would've gotten a warmer welcome among fans.
@Amanda Danielle It doesn't change the fact that they give the best ron's lines in the books to emma watson.
Awwn this is everything!! Ron is my fav character and Rupert was the absolute PERFECT choice! 🧡 What a thoughtful human
Him, of all people, signing off by making sure the cast of GQ are happy with the content, is SO why he is a Hufflepuff. Such a nice human being, in balance with himself, loving what he does and going out of his way to make people happy.
Well done :)
I think that Rupert has made acting part of his life. He can become another person if he needs to. He knows what a director needs. He grew up knowing that.
What a class act. Love the books and loved the movies for their differences. Watching Rupert, Daniel, and Emma grow up through them and seeing who they really are is a delight. Particularly, because of how incredible each one is as a person.
He's already got the voice perfect for a villain. All that's missing now is a good wardrobe and swagger.
His voice is so soothing! I saw that he narrated a kids audiobook but He should narrate other genres as well and documentaries
He is phenomenal in Knock at the Cabin, wish he'd gotten more screentime
I wonder if the casters ended up casting these three because they could sense they would be pretty solid people growing up? I am also glad to see Grint getting more and more work now. He's always a nice addition to a show or movie, and seems like a pleasant person all round.
Love for him to get all the spotlight all to himself. Love you Rupert Grint
I love Rupert he seems so genuine and like a really nice guy.
Maybe it's that he's a dad now, or maybe it's just been enough time since Harry Potter ended, but Rupert Grint just seems so much more comfortable in interviews now than he used to. You really get to see his real personality come through.
I really think that he is such a nice person to be friends with. Thankyou for doing this interview!! I need more ahaha. I love him sm
07:21 took me back to Ron Weasley's expression of satisfaction and happiness while being impressed! Loved this interview.
The Harry Potter series are a huge milestone for the books & movies history & seeing the crew that we grew up with being so humble & down to earth makes it even better to see.
Such a humble person. Sounds like the the kid of guy that's always down to go grab a pint.
Rupert does such a good job in everything he's in. Looking forward to seeing more of him.
Thank you Rupert! As a Wizarding World fan, you were a big part of my childhood. If only I couldve some how made it to England to see you on stage.
I love this man. So happy to hear he's doing well!
He one of the more talented child actors. So much personality.
Aww this was such a great video! Watched it was I was getting ready this morning and it was so nice! Felt like listening to an old friend tell stories 😊🥰😁
It’s been so long since I’ve seen him around. I saw Knock without knowing anything about it and was pleasantly surprised. Didn’t know Rupert was in it and he did a great job.
He has such a humble personality, and his voice is so relaxing. His wife and child should be very lucky.
Rupert is one of my favorites…has been since first sight. Awesome job in Servant! Filming in my hometown area…definitely a soft spot for me 🎉
nobody else could have played Ron in the movies tbh. Nobody. They were all perfectly cast. That's one thing that I think the Harry Potter franchise is still raved about so much today is how spot-on the casting truly was. From McGonagall to the voice actor of Dobby. Crazy how it all came to together so well.
He has the best expressions! Ron Weasley is our king! ❤
His voice is so calm and peaceful. I love his natural redhair.
Hoping to see him in more projects with M. Night Shyamalan.
Down to earth humble dude. Fits with everyone and everything like a comfy pair of blue jeans
I'd like to see him as a Jedi, like hyper competent, in Star Wars, or as a cool hero in either the new DC or Marvel. Rupert has so much charisma and has aged into a really interesting actor.
Star Wars has been run into the ground, so not sure about that.. doesn't seem like he wants to do those types of films
He seems like such a nice guy! Was fun to watch him in Knock on the Cabin, and will definitely be watching Servant! Btw I wonder if he ever read the comments in the Lego House video from Ed Sheeran. Those are hilarious!
Rupert is without question as an adult my favorite of the trio. I wonder if he ever heard Ron voiced in other languages than his own.
He’s such a chill, sweet, and humble dude and thats what I really love abt him
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I'm openly quirky, and it's great to see Rupert so open about his. Thanks GQ.
To me Rupert grint was the best actor of the trio. Seems like a genuinely good guy, wish he did more films tho.
I wasn’t huge on ron in the films but, I am glad his actor is polite. seeing this in my feed was certainly nostalgic; couldn’t imagine ron being played by anybody else.
Rupert is killing it more then anyone from the Harry potters lately
Give this dude an Emmy, Oscar right away....
Ron was always my favourite as a kid when watching the movies. I first saw the movies and then read the books. I read the first one translated into my native language, but all the name changes bothered me, so i waited until my English was good enough to read the books. And by that time, they were all published. Sometimes, I'd just rewind the movie when Ron was afraid because it was just THAT entertaining.
He’s so nice. Ron is such an iconic character. He’s so talented
I had such a huge crush on Rupert growing up, it’s so amazing to see what he’s up to now! He’s such a lovely guy ❤
All these years later and he still just looks like Ron with a mustache.
I ADORE AND RESPECT THIS MAN! Growing up with him, Emma & Daniel (so to speak) is great when you’re a kid with a bad childhood and HP is this fantastic escape. I, too, enjoy The Servant.
He has so many cool hobbies! Pottery and bee keeping? I love it!!
Ron is the best characters from HP
he's selfless, humble, funny, loving,
the movie really wrecks Ron Weasley from the book
truly will be my favorite movies of all time. its kinda bitter sweet seeing them all grown up knowing that was it but i mean thats life. Glad they left us with such an amazing series.
This guy was a part of my childhood… seems like such a nice person.
He did a great job in this movie. Honestly wish he was in it longer.
He has such a relaxing voice like I could easily listen to him talk all day long. ❤
Ruper Grint freaking out and making exaggerated faces was an integral part of the first few Harry Pooter movies.
rupert is becomeing more active which is nice to see, i hope he hits big again and isn't just known for harry potter
absolutely love him in servant so cool to see him acting in such an amazing show
I always knew he was the best actor of the trio. With Melling (hid Poe was AMAZING) and Pattinson the best of the youngsters but I never noticed what a beautiful voice he has
I'm pretty sure the three of them are set out for life, and I'm happy to hear that they can just do whatever, like Ron driving an ice cream truck or do taxidermy or anything else 👌
I don't know why but I really want to see him and Joaquin Phoenix do a movie together. I have no idea what it would be about but I feel like they would both contrast and compliment each other perfectly.
Unpopular opinion: Redmond, Rupert Grint’s character from Knock at the Cabin, was the best character, but they could have done more with his character! At least he had time to shine in the first half hour of the movie 😢 PERFECT COMEBACK TO THE BIG SCREEN FOR HIM!
I love rupert grint! So stoked to see him in more work as of recent
He was really good in Knock At The Cabin. I was surprised. Not that he wasn’t good in HP, but those movies didn’t get to showcase his true acting ability like KATC did.
He has a fantastic speaking voice. How have I never noticed this?
Put Harry Potter aside (As of course he was AMAZING in that) I have absolutely loved the projects Rupert has pursued after his time as a wizard. Dude has my attention after his work in Servant and Knock at the Cabin. I see a great future relationship with him and M. Night blooming.
Rupert is by far the best actor of the three and the only one who can do a convincing American accent
He’s certainly the most natural actor, followed closely by Daniel. Emma is clearly the worst of the three , but continues to get roles because of her appearance
@Anniem27 I think she's a bit bland even irl (personality I mean, not looks), which is why her acting seems so uninspired. If you don't have a wide range of emotions irl, then how can you display them on command on camera? Just look at Aubrey Plaza, who has the emotional range of a rusty spoon in anything she does.
y'all always tryna discredit women in the industry istg
@cheeziNo offense but honesty isn’t always a bad thing. I don’t think they’re trying to discredit women in the industry as a whole, there are plenty of women who are AMAZING actresses, and play their roles well, Emma Watson may just not be one of them at least in the opinion of others. Not everyone is good at what they do and that’s fine, it shouldn’t always be taken as discrediting an entire group of people.
@Coran iirc Emma wasn't particularly keen on continuing with acting after HP, so I always got the sense she wasn't as passionate for the art as the boys are
So sweet! I love to see that he keeps finding new things he loves to do.
I WANT MORE OF HIM 💖🧡
My favourite part of Rupert in the potter movies was poa where harry and Ron are together and Ron goes "follow the spiders?! Why couldn't it be follow the butterflies?!"
underated and down to earth guy, really do like him
Wish we’d seen more of him in Knock at the cabin!
I like his acting in the ‘Servant’, it’s the first time where I really dissociate him from Harry Potter
Very nice to see this, he seems like such a nice guy.
Now that we're all adults, we all know the Ronaissance is happening. Marvel, get this man a shield!
I think Rupert could be an adult version of jimmy olsen in the superman movie project
